Based on Nightwing's increasing popularity, DC decided to test the character's possibilities with this one-shot, followed by a mini-series (Nightwing, Vol. 1; see below).

In this 4-issue mini-series (September-December 1995), Dick briefly considers retiring from being Nightwing for good, before family papers uncovered by Alfred reveal a possible link between the murder of his parents and the Crown Prince of Kravia.

In 2014, DC started publishing a new series of trade paperbacks collecting Nightwing (Vol. 1-2).
