​Joaquin Phoenix is in talks to star in the Joker origin movie.

First, Ben Affleck was supposed to be both director of and main actor in the upcoming (The) Batman movie, then he vacated the director's chair, and now he's probably leaving the project altogether. Now, Matt Reeves is directing, but as of January 2018 there is still no script; only a story outline and some vague description: ''Reeves’ vision for the Batman solo film has been described as a “detective version” of the character, inspired by the thrillers of Alfred Hitchcock.''

This movie could take longer to be made than we want. In the meantime, the names of other actors who could be taking on the role of the Caped Crusader are already floating around: Jake Gyllenhaal seems to be the most probable candidate if Affleck really chooses to walk away.
